Opening Reception for Jesup Gallery: THE LOST NEGATIVES, Photography by Michael Friedman
From 1966 through the early ‘80s, Westport native Michael Friedman worked as a publicist, music producer and manager for dozens of iconic musical artists of the day, including Janis Joplin and the Rolling Stones. Also an avid photographer, Friedman took candid shots of the many musicians he traveled with, capturing the essence of this historic period in American folk, rock and pop music. But before printing the photos, he lost track of the negatives for nearly 50 years. Then in 2017, the negatives were discovered in his attic and, now printed, provide a glimpse back at this legendary era of music.
