They say one’s man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and that is certainly the case when it comes to thrift shopping. If you want to spruce up your next shopping spree make your way over to some of the best local thrift shops in Fairfield County. You could come home with some great designer brands, clothing you could transform with a simple DIY idea, or amazing pieces of furniture full of history all at an extremely reasonable price!
New & Nearly New Thrift Shop is operated by and directly benefits The Kennedy Center Auxiliary. The store sells Men’s and Women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories, small household furniture and accessories. The shop is staffed solely by volunteers and accepts donated items. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-3pm and closed on Sunday.
Penny Lane Thrift Shoppe
Great finds at great prices located right here in Bridgeport! Penny Lane offers products like unique clothing, homegoods items, antiques, novelty items, and furniture. Open Wednesday-Saturday 10am-4pm
The Darien Thrift Shop is rich in its history was founded in 1931 to supply clothing and food to families in need and offer employment for women during the Depression. It now offers a variety of goods including jewelry, books, home furnishings, accessories and more! All proceeds from the shop support the mission of the DCA, including scholarships for Darien High School graduates. Two exciting events they have coming up are a Prom Dress Sale on Saturday March 30th and a Designer/New Clothing Sale Monday April 8th. Open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm.
This thrift store has finds for all ages. Their inventory include adult and kids clothing, home goods, toys, jewelry, and much more! The purpose of The Store is to provide those in the community quality, thrift-priced goods. The Store is completely volunteer operated and accepts donations from the community that go towards the wide selection of goods in store that in turn supports the Church and its services. Open Monday-Friday 10am-3pm and Saturday 10am-2pm
The Treasure House is just that, a treasure. For over fifty-seven years this thrift shop has fostered a genuine atmosphere to browse, shop, chat, or even just relax, offering clothing, houseware, pictures, glassware, shoes and much more. The Treasure House serves the community and raises funds for Norwalk Hospital. Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10am-1pm and Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 10am-4pm.
This hidden gem of a thrift shop is affiliated with the Southport Congregational Church, selling women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and shoes, housewares, books, furniture and home accessories, and office supplies. The Carousel has been open for 35 years offering not only great goods but also a welcoming atmosphere for all customers and volunteers. The Carousel is an arm of the ministry! Open Tuesday-Friday 11am-3pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.
Treasure Hunters is all about convenience for the general public, being located right in downtown Stamford. They offer a variety of gently used furniture, clothing, and household items at affordable prices. Proceeds from store sales goes towards hands-on learning opportunities for Laurel House program participants in mental health recovery programs. Open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday from 10am-3pm.
The First Congregational Church of Stamford is home to a great thrift shop, located in the church basement. They offer members of the church and the community the opportunity to shop for goods such as, toys, clothing, jewelry, housewares, and small furniture. Proceeds from the shop go to the church as well as to the community and international charities. Open 10am-3pm every Thursday and 10am-2pm the third Saturday of each month.
Gumdrop Swap is putting a twist on thrift and consignment shopping offering new and pre-loved kids and maternity clothing and more. Gumdrop has implemented a system where customers can swap in their unwanted items for an additional 50% off of their purchase. Although this is a great deal, a swap is not required to shop! Open Tuesday-Friday 12-6pm and Saturday-Sunday 12-4pm.
The Westport Women’s Club Curio Cottage Thrift Shop operates year round to raise funds for their overall philanthropic mission. They offer a diverse quality collection of glassware, kitchen equipment, jewelry, collectibles and much more! All merchandise is donated to the shop and there are treasures for everyone. Open Monday 1pm-4pm, Wednesday-Friday 10am-3pm, Saturday 11am-2pm.
Goodwill is a well-known nonprofit chain that accepts donations of pre-owned clothing, furniture, housewares and more from the local community. By donating to Goodwill you are contributing to a greater good and by shopping at Goodwill you have the ability to find some great pieces! While this Goodwill is located in Westport there are other locations in Fairfield, Bridgeport, and Norwalk. Open Monday- Saturday 9am-9pm and Sunday 10am-7pm.
