“Four-Course Dinner with Wine Pairing - Peerless”
Last night was my second visit to this wonderful restaurant and I went with very good friends who know good food. While looking at the menu, after being served delicious cocktails, I asked about the pre fixe option. As we were the first diners of the evening, our wonderful waiter wanted to check with the Chef, who promptly came out of the kitchen ask me what I was hoping for: would I like a 3, 4, 5 or upwards course experience? After asking about my likes, dislikes and any food allergies, we decided on a four course dinner with wine pairings. Chef Pietro said he wanted to surprise me with each course and wine pairing, which resulted in one of the best dining experiences of my life! Anticipating each course sent a shiver up my spine.
For my appetizer, he prepared a gorgeous foie gras with stewed cabbage, fresh figs, blackberries and apple. Didn't sound it would work together, but after the first bite I was sold; the wine complemented perfectly. This was followed by plump and flawlessly seared sea scallops resting in lobster bisque-like broth flavored with saffron; the wine was delicate and enhanced the flavor of the dish. Each scallop was topped with lobster and crispy shallots and was accompanied by slivers of artichoke. I wanted to marry this plate of food. Then came the most perfectly executed veal medallion with morel mushrooms, garlic mash and al dente vegetables. The wine pairing was again impeccable. When it was time for dessert, the waiter said that I could choose. I said, "Oh, no. I've been in wonderful hands all night, and want to continue the experience.” When my chocolate lava cake served with vanilla ice cream was placed in front of me, I was in heaven. Chef was kind enough to personally check on us during our meal. What is worth noting is that none of these dishes were on the menu. Chef created them especially for me.
Needless to say, my companions were jealous of my unusual dining experience. Luckily, they enjoyed the crab cakes and lobster bisque as their starters followed by the branzino and rigatoni with tomato rabbit sauce. A perfect meal served in a wonderful atmosphere by superb staff. Highly recommend.
